No Man's Sky Forsaken Update Adds "Spooky Biomechanical Ships" and Wealth of New

No Man's Sky had a rough start to life, with Hello Games having had to put in nearly a decade's worth of work to right the ship and get the game to "Very Positive" reviews on Steam. Now, following a handful of significant gameplay and content updates since that success, Hello Games has announced the Forsaken update, a new content update to No Man's Sky that builds on the game's exploration, building, and research mechanics.

The Forsaken update, officially version 7.10 of the game, adds a minimal HUD mode for a more immersive experience, minimizing the compass, hazard protection bars, and mission notifications. Hello Games says this mode is especially suited for experienced players. On the gameplay and content side of things, however, the update also introduces "Haunting Mementos," a new set piece that sees gamers searching the abandoned wrecks, infested outposts, and derelict freighters in deep space for "bizarre, horrifying biological samples."
