Star Trek's Spock Officially Returns in New 60th Anniversary Event September 22

Star Trek has now spent 60 years as one of the most beloved and important sci-fi franchises of all time. Throughout 2026, there have been various celebrations of the legendary franchise but, later this month, there will be another, and it will be bringing back Spock, one of the most instantly recognizable characters in all of pop culture.

Originally played by the late Leonard Nimoy in the original series and its accompanying movies, Spock is the face of Star Trek to many, and no anniversary celebration would have been complete without everyone's favorite Vulcan. On September 22, Spock will be taking center stage in a new event in Star Trek Online.

Spock Returns to Celebrate Star Trek's 60th Anniversary in New Event

Star Trek Online is an MMO that has been operating since 2010, with millions having jumped in over the last 16 years to live their dream of experiencing the full universe of Star Trek for themselves. New content has regularly been added to the game to keep things interesting, and the new event beginning on September 22, Star Trek Online: Rediscovered, will be making things extra exciting by focusing on Spock, with several of the actors to have portrayed the character being involved.

While Nimoy passed away in 2015, there have been a number of actors to take on the role of the famous Vulcan, most notably Zachary Quinto in the reboot film trilogy. Spock's primary modern day actor, Ethan Peck, is naturally a part of this new event, as is Pitor Michael, who voiced Spock previously in Star Trek: Resurgance.

Peck will be voicing Lieutenant Spock, while Michael will be voicing Commander Spock. Sadly, Quinto does not appear to be involved with the event at all. On the bright side, archival dialogue recorded by Leonard Nimoy is being utilized, allowing him to still be a part of this celebration.

“Captains must… unravel the mystery behind the disappearances of Lieutenant Miral Paris and Ambassador B’vat,” Cryptic Studios and Arc Games described Rediscovered‘s new story mission. “Her final message on the Gateway Planet will send players on a temporal chase across Star Trek history where captains meet Spock through the ages and continue the quest to stop B’vat!”

As one can gather from that description, as well as the presence of multiple versions of Spock, each with their own actor, Star Trek Online: Rediscovered is offering a classic time travel adventure. And, while it is continuing storylines from earlier in-game events, new players should still be able to jump in and enjoy.

The new Star Trek Online: Rediscovered event will begin on September 22, but only for PC players. For console players, they sadly won't be able to experience it until November 10.

Star Trek Online is available to play on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, and can be played on modern hardware via backwards compatibility.
